Summer Sailing Program

The summer session will start after school is out and continue through the end of August. The summer program follows the Year Round curriculum of the Cruiser group and the Racing Team.

The Cruiser group

This group meets in the mornings from 9am through 12pm. This group is setup for the beginner sailor that has an educational pace that suits the individuals pace. Our main goal for this program is introduce basic knowledge of sailing Naples Sabots. The Cruiser sailor will be introduced to:

  • Nomenclature of Naples Sabots
  • Basic knot tying
  • Water Safety
  • Dock Safety
  • Wind and Sea Effects
  • Basic boat handling skills
  • Participates in Interclub racing with an emphasis on fun.

    The Racing Group

    This group meets from 1pm through 5pm. This group is setup for our advanced sailors and is reinforced by a racing curriculum. Our main goal for the racing team is to offer the next level of sailing from basic. The Racing group primarily utilizes Naples Sabots, Lasers and introduction to CFJ racing. The Racing team’s goals are:

  • Competition and Sportsmanship
  • Reinforce the program goals as stated
  • Basic to advanced racing techniques and boat handling
  • Racing Rules
  • Starting tactics
  • General race course tactics
  • Participates in Interclub and traveling regattas
